We do our best to accommodate extraordinary guest requests under extraordinary circumstances, but due to our short season and somewhat remote location, we cannot make exceptions to our deposit and cancellation policies. We very strongly recommend that, for peace of mind, all guests purchase travel insurance.
booking & cancellation
A deposit of 50% of the total cost of booking is due at time of reservation and is preferred by bank wire transfer. Should you wish to use a credit card, a 3% convenience fee will apply and you may book your stay online or by calling directly at (207) 966-0431. If wiring payment, please contact us directly for wire instructions. The remaining balance of your reservation is due 90 days prior to the first day of your arrival. We will send you a reminder 30 days prior to the due date. You may also pay in full at the time of booking.
If a cancellation in writing, is received and confirmed by the island accounting director 91 or more days prior to scheduled arrival, a $500 USD per person cancellation fee applies. If cancellation is received 0-90 days prior to arrival, then the reservation is 100% non-refundable. This policy is without exception.
complimentary airport transfer
Airport shuttle service is a shared van or bus. Please note, airport shuttles are required to wait for all arriving guests within a two hour arrival window on arrival days. Shuttle service pickup times are 12:00 noon and 4pm. Departure day shuttle service is 6:00am, 9:00am, and 1pm. Airport shuttles operate on Thursdays and Sundays and only service three Maine airports: Bar Harbor, Bangor and Portland.
We take your safety and well being very seriously, which is why we partner with accredited tour operators, licensed guiding companies and other trained professionals for our all of domestic and off island activities. However, you are ultimately responsible for your safety, which is why we ask all guests to sign a liability waiver prior to arrival. (read the waiver here).
We know that your pets are an important part of your family and you want them to have a happy and relaxed time with you as much as possible. However, Sheephead Island has its share of flora and fauna who require uninterrupted enjoyment to remain healthy. Therefore, we have a strict no pet policy on the island. There are no exceptions.
It is important that all guests are insured for their activities. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover medical expenses and other situations that may interfere with or prevent you from traveling. The best way to protect yourself from any unforeseen circumstances is to purchase trip insurance.
